Weekly Challenge #178: "Duotangle by the Letter!" and other stuff

This week's challenge is a duotangle based on my name's initials. I've got Zoya and Barney. Not only does Zoya starts with same letter as my first name, it is the Slavic version of my name.
My gorgeous virtual friend, Annette Carlo, came up with a cute new tangle - Oooples. Annette, it looks like music! Plus I couldn't resist playing around with a new journal of bristol smooth paper that I got for free, as well as a couple of new technical pens.

I'm sure you can pick the one for the challenge. The one in the top right is Annette's. A touch of Sprigs by my neighbour across the strait, Michele Beauchamp.

C for Cat

ABC Wednesday is up to C this week. See this cunning cuteness:

This could all easily go under E for Extortion. That's how he gets everything he wants and we love it.

And this is a quilled representation of him on the kitty litter. To avoid confidentiality breach, photos of the real thing could not be shown.

Orange & Shoes

Every Inchie Monday has Orange as the keyword this week. I have a tiny quilled orange immortelle, which is a desert flower native to Western Australia.

And my twinchie for this week is Shoes. I do miss embroidery. This was spur of the moment idea (spur, get it - ha ha).

B is for Beehive

This week on ABC Wednesday it's the letter B. Beehive is a quilling technique, where strips are rolled a certain way, then stuffed between contours. This is the coat of arms of the city of Jerusalem that I did entirely in the beehive technique.

App. 20 x 15cm (8" x 6")

And a little one. This was made for Every Inchie Monday, an inchie challenge blog a while back. An inchie is a 1" x 1" square, where you create any art or craft in any technique. This cute blog also has the alphabet going - each week is a new keyword. This inchie was done earlier in the year when we were on B for Ballet.

Odd and More Sunshine

Every Inchie Monday's word is Odd. My second favourite number is 7.

On the list of Twinchie topics for the year, there is another Sunshine. So I made another one. Sunshine is a suburb of Melbourne, so here is the local council logo that Sunshine belongs to.

Weekly Challenge #176

My beverage is a couple of buckets of coffee in the morning. However, in this tile, I coloured in with tea for the Diva's weekly challenge.

A is for Andrei Rublev

And for awards and for awesome, amazing, achievement, arduous, appreciation.........   yeah, OK, enough, clearly I know English.

This is a quilled picture I did of an Andrei Rublev icon. I entered it in the most prestigious show in Australia (Royal Sydney Easter Show) and won not only first prize, but a medal for raising the standard of excellence and it was displayed in an actual showcase of excellence while the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge visited the show.

Nothing like this has ever happened to me previously. It was an arduous 6 months. These awards are a huge achievement for me, and those medals of appreciation are awesome and amazing..........   yeah, OK, enough, clearly I know how to use those words in a sentence.

So I'd like to share this on ABC Wednesday, where a new round begins with Alpha.

Navy & BBQ

This week's keyword on EIM is Navy. Look at this tiny boating knot my husband tied! Does anyone know which knot it is? I'm not testing you, I really don't know.

And on the twinchie for this is week is Barbecue. Mine's a mix of polymer clay food and a qulled plate.

Z for Zero

Just discovered ABC Wednesday, a blog dedicated to sharing... anything you want, really, as long as it begins with the letter of the week. This week it's Z for Zone. Z is my favourite letter, and I made a quilled 0 in a little box. Next week begins with A again.

Diva Challenge #175 & Other

I just love those Bijou tiles for their size. It is a good old twinchie (2" square), my kind of thing. Feel free to check out my posts with 'Miniature' label to see how play around with those twinchies.
Anyway, couldn't be bothered cutting out twinchies, so drew 2" squares inside normal tiles.

For Diva's challenge this week:

Crux, Twisted Rope.

And playing around with some of the latest tangles:

Dutch Diamonds. Metallic watercolours a'la stained glass window.
Diosea, Mooka, Ennies, Paradox and something just I just doodled. Blue Pigma Micron and Prussian Blue pastel pencil.
Ballace

Negative & Tropical

This week the key word on Every Inchie Monday is Negative. Could someone please tell me - is this a negative result?!

On the Twinchies Challenge Blog this Tuesday, the keyword is Tropical. I've read the Tropic of Cancer, but haven't made it to the sequel.... yet.

Weekly Challenge #174

I imposed the latest string from TanglePatterns, #111 with one of the squiggles from string #3. Didn't take a photo of resulting double string, but here's the ZIA.

These are the 2 strings (or 1.5 strings):

Check out the other pieces of art on the Diva's blog.
