Little Fun

3 ATC's and a Tag

Show Us Your Pussies (which is a cats only challenge blog) and its artistic director Ike have published their theme for the month - Floral Kitties. ATC's Mit Herz came up with Blumen (Flowers).
So here is my response to these two challenges:

The Male Room also have a floral theme with a twist - Make Flowers Masculine. In addition, ATC Around the world have published Anything Goes with Option use Newspaper.
And this is my response to these challenges:
Quilling newspaper is not much fun :)

The gorgeous Wicked Wednesday ATC's challenge this week is Rock & Roll! I have a couple doing the Lindy Hop.

And this is the tag I made for my Tag Tuesday blog, where this week's theme is At the Seaside.

A Couple of ATC's

In response to Colour Q's palette challenge for this week, I have a quilled chameleon ATC.

He adapted to this colour palette:

It looks like it's Father's Day around various parts of the world. Down here it's not til September.

The keyword on Wicked Wednesday this week is Bookworm. I found this a tough one and eventually ended up embroidering a reading worm. Suppose this can be used as a bookmark. It's been about 7 years since I read a book - shame on me!

Paul

June's topic on ATC's met Herz is Im Wasser (In the Water).
Does anyone remember Paul the Octopus who predicted winners in the 2010 soccer World Cup? Have a look herehere and here. Who would have thought that the whole world would come to love a yucky creature. Paul passed away shortly after he became famous. He had an interesting life.
Here is a tribute to Paul.

Paul is stitched in metallic thread on hand dyed cloth. Couldn't get the photo to sparkle enough, so took one in almost darkness:

Letter Stamp

This ATC is cross stitched on 28 count linen. I did it one over one, that is - 28 tiny stitches per inch using one strand (and several magnifiers). Entering it into ATC Around the World's Anything Goes with Option Letter Stamp March challenge.

Black, White & Red Kitty Love

For ATC's mit Herz challenge schwarz/weiß/rot (Black/White/Red) challenge, for Show Us Your Pussies challenge Kitty Love, and for Moo Mania & More My Favourite Pet, I have an embroidered ATC. The hearts are done with glow-in-the-dark DMC thread, which I will test out tonight  :)

Yeah, right!

Myth is the keyword on Every Inchie Monday this week. This is my team, in Australia Rules Football, St. Kilda, being number 1 on the ladder. Why is it a myth? They came up with a wooden spoon last season and close to that for a couple of seasons prior. In their whole life of 150+ years, they have only won one grand final. And now, grand final is at the end of this month........ And here is my make-belief:
You can see that my blog's icon is this Footy club's logo

Another "yeah, right" is that this did not win anything at the Royal Melbourne show this year!!! The sphere is around 20 cm (app. 8") in diameter and completely hollow inside! How could 3 other people have done better than this?!  LOL and everything, but seriously!  :)   Those show competitions are now rigged, I'm telling you. To be fair, I got a glimpse of the work submitted this year, and it's magnificent. Fair competition.......   I think. I raised the standards last year when I took first place and best in section at this show. Hard competing against yourself  :D

This cross stitch also did not win any prizes, but I get that and don't question it.

However, and this really surprised me, this cross stitch on linen (with sewn in beads) got 2nd place. So somewhere still a bit of a winner  :)    The size is app. 69cm x 39cm (27" x 15").

Finally got some time to draw. I am putting together a new year's present - a wall calendar with one of my doodles on each month. I already have 8 pages I drew and published previously. Need another 5 (there's an extra page for the start of 2017). So this one is following this week's Diva challenge 235:

And this is my tag for Tag Tuesday this week:

An Apple a Day?

The word is Apple on Every Inchie Monday this week. This is one of the more (if not the most) famous apples.

Moo Mania & More have a great topic this fortnight - Numbers. Non-stop ideas here. Decided on this one. I suppose on just one apple a day, this could be possible.

Do you think this is in inches or centimetres?

Also, I finally did it - I opened up my Etsy shop:
The Master's Nook.

And a bit of a show&tell. I recently finished this embroidery. It measures 50cm x 55cm (20" x 22"). I'm about to start on one so huge and difficult, it will probably take me two years.

Celebrations

A card I made for my parents' anniversary coming up in a couple of weeks. I embroidered their initials kinda similar to the ones engraved on my mum's wedding band.

It's Kitchen on Every Inchie Monday, and I've got this - as symbolic of kitchen as skull and crossbones are of pirates.
Furthermore, the wooden spoon is being used to make me a birthday cake, as tomorrow, Feb 3 I'm turning 50, I'm going to be a golden girl! I've been looking forward to this birthday all my life, and with each decade it got easier and freer to live. And I proudly never learned how to cook!
Happy birthday to me!!!     :D

And just to keep with the distinguished theme, here is my take on Masculine, which is this fortnight's theme on Moo Mania.

A Vegie Post

Hi, this week's keyword on Every Inchie Monday, Vegetable. Cabbage is good and yummy too.

The twinchie word is Pumpkins. I know this is supposed to be for Halloween, but we don't do Halloween here. Marketing people try to sell stuff for it at this time of year, but it just isn't happening. Pumpkins have other uses, for example, transport that's limited to certain hours before midnight.

F for Flask

ABC Wednesday is up to F. I decorated my husband's plain flask with little embroideries on each side. The initials are of each or our nicknames.
Flasks are necessary, as one never knows how far from a pub one could end up.

Orange & Shoes

Every Inchie Monday has Orange as the keyword this week. I have a tiny quilled orange immortelle, which is a desert flower native to Western Australia.

And my twinchie for this week is Shoes. I do miss embroidery. This was spur of the moment idea (spur, get it - ha ha).

The Master's Haven / Приют Мастера

A Dutch designer was lonely, so she knitted herself a man. You can have a look at it here.
I don't have enough space for my own craft studio, so I embroidered myself one. Ended up looking like  thread scrap. I guess now I will have to quill myself a quilling cabinet.

This is a tiny bit of embroidery I did for the Paper Clip Challenge on LIttle Fun. It's 40-count linen with silk thread. It really is miniature - I wore magnifying eyeglasses and used two magnifying glasses with backlighting. The pendant is from my stash of jewellery findings.

For my man / Для моего мужчины (English & Русский)

A man and his flask cannot be parted, as one never knows how far the next pub is.
This is a gift for my husband - for his birthday and St. Valentine's Day. A flask decorated biker style on one side and with a monogram of our nicknames on the other. I remembered I've got red cross stitch canvas (14 count), so I embroidered the Confederation flag (I pieced together a pattern from flag photos). The monogram is done in silver and gold thread on black canvas (14 count). The monogram is a modified version of a pattern from an application I have on my iPad. I then glued the finished canvas pieces on the flask. Thought I will enter it in the Cups and Flasks on Homyachok Challenge.
