Some Small Things

UnstampaBelles' August challenge is White on White with a touch of one other colour. This is a tiny quilled white baby grand with ebony keys.

8cm long x 4.5cm wide x 7cm high with the lid open

So you can see the strings
I based it on this tutorial. It's in Russian, but you should be able to work out the steps.

Moo Mania's homework for this fortnight is Embellishments. Probably the most difficult topic in Moos this year. Plus I don't even like embellishments. At first I thought of smearing the moo with glue, throwing whatever I have in my stash over it; whatever stays on the moo keeps, whatever falls off goes back in the stash. After headaches thinking what to do for this moo, I settled on this abstract look.

The word is Lamp on Every Inchie Monday this week. My lamp is wishful thinking. I would immediately wish to have an unlimited number of wishes. What would you wish for?

  16. Dear Zoe, I've been visiting....i love what you do and am glad you have received accolades for your work.. This piano is incredible. I'm with you on the embellishment thing--keep it simple, yes? As for the lamp, that was my first idea, but I had to go in a different direction. As for wishes, mine would be simple: for you to have everything you need and nothing you don't. All the best to you.Have a brilliant day! c

  17. Oh Zoe - what a beautiful piano - I aspire to do something like that - might try it. I find it difficult yet to do the ones with outlines, like the piano top. Something to work on. Love your take on the Moo thing - I'm not much for overcrowding things with embellishments either, preferring a minimalist approach, but the embellished look is all the rage these days, isn't it? I wish, I wish - well.let's not get into that - lol. Great inchie and good idea.

    1. Thank you muchly, Kia! I hate the outline thing too. You need pins and a cork board with plastic liner; you slip the pattern underneath, put the pins around the pattern and pull a strip around the pins, then fill in with quilled shapes. Try to avoid this if possible lol

    1. Thanks for noticing. As a heading, it's new. It's from the Jerusalem coat of arms I did back in January 2014, when I was a designer on a craft blog. You can see the whole thing here: http://zoe3265.blogspot.com.au/2014/01/coat-of-arms.html

  19. Zoe, you are an amazing woman!! You always seem to leave such a message on my blog that puts the biggest smile on my face! Thank you ever so much for your internet friendship!! :0)
Now, to get to another amazing thing about you,.....your talent!! My goodness, this baby grand piano is phenomenal!!! I have to say, I have yet to try 3D quilling. I always see your quilling and think I want to do a piece, but I'm barley getting to create as much as I would like now. And that is quick easy tangling! quilling takes so much more patience, and right now I don't seem to have too much of that. :0/ Again, beautiful work!!
Oh, about quilling on canvas,......it really is a great Idea if it could go into a show box when complete. otherwise dust settles on the paper. but the look is really nice.
Oh and bunco is a dice game, that takes no real concentration, that way we 12 women can get more talking in. It is a really fun mixer type game. our group plays once a month and each month someone different hosts it. When we host, we also make a full meal for everyone. It's a lot of work but it is also very fun to get fancy,(or not) with the meal and snacks and such. ( Let's just put it this way, my husband told me the next day, that I should hold bunco at my house more often, because he was getting to eat all of the left overs) hee hee :0)
Anyway, Iv'e taken up your whole comment section! Keep on creating so many beautiful pieces of art!!! (((hugs))) to you my friend!! xo Annette :0)

    1. You are sweet and funny lol. I already spotted oval shaped canvas (i.e. ready taut on from and all) in various sizes. Working on some more quilling things at the moment for comps. Will show when results are announced. hugs,z
