Stuff

Finally finished tangling for the calendar I'm preparing as a gift for 2016. Here is the 12th page using Tri-Bee (among other patterns), as per the Diva's weekly challenge:

I adoooooooore quilled keys. Love this week's EIM topic - Key! You should check out Ann Martin's quilled keys here and here. And generally google 'quilled keys' to see what's out there. I've quilled a few real sized ones over time......
'bout time I did some more. This week I have tiny ones:

This fortnight we need to Show Patterns on Moo Mania & More. The most mysterious pattern I know (and it's my favourite by far) is the DNA coil with its chromosomes:

And this piece, approximate size A3 and completely covered in quilling, was inspired by a medieval book cover. I was going to enter it in a show, but decided to stop with the agricultural shows - I've won enough there. I will now start working on some pieces targeting galleries. Gotta progress.

  5. Yay!!! I was so excited to see your name on the Diva Challenge! And wow,....Your tangling is just beautiful!Really, it's lovely!
Love your keys and especially love the quilled book! Is that all quilling? Did you coat it with something? I tried getting a closer look to see how you did it.. Your work is always so inspiring and just beautiful! Don't know how you get so many intricate pieces of art finished as quickly as you do. Good luck if you enter it in a competition. Hope to see you on the Diva's Challenge more often! :0) See ya' round ! xo

    1. Of course, more time means I can draw more now. Will have a go with this week's challenge as well. I ran out of gilded strips, so I use gold leaving pen on the quilling (yes, all quilling). I don't have kids, that's how I do it. Oh, and I don't sleep :D See you at Diva's soon :D Hugs,z

  12. Lovely, Zoe. Your keys are adorable. And your drawings are intricate and well composed. The book cover is beautiful. Don't give up on the contests--galleries, at least here in the States--love a winner. They can't get enough of artists with long lists of awards. Maybe it's just an American thing? Have a brilliant day! c

    1. Thank you muchly, Cheryl! Definitely an American thing. Down here is very conservative and the tall poppy syndrome is rife.
